Submission fees help us cover the costs of reviewing work, maintaining our online platform, and compensating the various artists winning contests, promotions, editors, and reviewers who make our publication possible. They also help us offer free and low-cost creative resources to our community.

Everyone deserves to have their voices heard. We will accept all submissions, regardless of lack of funds. Select the “Fee Waiver” option when submitting— waivers of submissions will be strenuously considered on a case-by-case basis.

During the submission process, simply check the box for a fee waiver. Provide a brief explanation. That’s it. We will consider waivers on a case-by-case basis. Contributors will be notified in 3 – 4 weeks of our decision.

Absolutely! If you’re able, you can choose to pay more than the standard fee. All extra funds go directly to supporting fee waivers and community programming.

Creators retain full copyright over their work. We request only first digital publication rights. After your work appears with us, all rights revert to you.

Our typical response time is 6–8 weeks. You’ll receive an email notification with our decision.

We accept fiction, nonfiction, poetry, visual art, film/video, podcasts/audio, and experimental or hybrid works. Please see our full guidelines for each category.

Anyone with a story to tell—whether you’re a seasoned creator or just getting started! We especially encourage Black creators and other underrepresented voices to share their work. We welcome submissions from writers, filmmakers, podcasters, visual artists, and more. Youth and first-time submitters are very welcome. 

Be advised, we maintain and retain the right, option, and discretion to turn away obscene and offensive materials. 

All work is reviewed by a diverse editorial team. We use a blind process whenever possible to ensure fairness and focus on quality and originality.

Yes! There are nominal fees for submitting work. Fees are dependent upon the category which you submit. Fees also help to reduce costs for the artists submitting work in each category. 

However, there are opportunities available for free submissions for members.
